Establish The Prayers and The Prize is Paradise

Importance of Prayer

Prayers are the most significant of the obligatory worships in the Quran. It is one of the five pillars of Islam. Muslims are supposed to offer five times obligatory prayers in a day. When a Muslim offers prayer, he submits himself to the mind, body, heart, and soul to Allah. Prayers have been given utmost importance and Allah has asked repeatedly at many places in the Holy Quran to establish prayers and the prize is Paradise. It is the building block of Islam. It begins by the glorification of Allah and ends on Salaam. Prayers were made obligatory when the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) went on ascension. First, they were fifty obligatory prayers, but several times they reduced to finally five prayers a day. But the reward of five prayers is equal to that of fifty prayers.

Quran and Hadith on the establishment of prayers

Allah commands us to establish prayer in all conditions.

“When you have finished the prayers, remember Allah, standing, sitting down, and lying down on your sides. But when you are free from danger, set up regular prayers, for such prayer, are enjoined on believers at stated times.” (4:103)

Quran and Hadith on the establishment of prayers

“Guard strictly your (habit of) prayers. Especially the middle prayer. And stand before Allah in a devout (frame of mind). If you fear (an enemy), pray on foot, or riding (as may be most convenient). But when you are after security, celebrate Allah’s praises in the manner He has taught you, which you knew not (before).” (2:238,239)

Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) also laid great emphasis on the establishment of prayers.

“Order your children to pray at the age of seven, hit them to do so at the age of ten, and separate them (the boys from the girls) in their beds.”

“As for the man whose head was being injured with the rock, he is the symbol of the one who studies the Quran and then neither recites it, nor acts on its orders, and sleeps, neglecting the enjoined prayers.”

”Whoever prays the two cool prayers (‘Aser and Fajr) will go to paradise.”

It is very easy to understand why it is said to establish the prayers and the prize is Paradise. When you pray five times a day regularly you take care of your cleanliness not only bodily cleanliness but also the cleanliness of your soul. You stay in the state of ablution which has its own rewards. You stay away from vices as you guard your prayers. So undoubtedly prayers are the foundation of Islam.
