The Roots Of Perform Hajj

Preparations of Ihram:  When a Haji verbalizes the word ‘Niyyah’ and utters ‘Talbiyah’ (“Labbayka Allahumma labbayk. Labbayka la shareeka laka labbayk. Inna al-hamda wan-ni’mata laka wa al-mulk. La shareeka lak”.) certain halal things develop into haraam for him.

The combined action (Niyah and Talbiyah) is called Ihram. These are the two sheets Haji covers his head by offering two raka’ats of Nafl before heading to Hajj as an initial step.

The right way to wear Ihram is after you comb your hair, remove unwanted facial and body hair, cut nails.

Men should wear an Ihram sheet (white cloth) around the waist covering the upper body to the left side of the shoulder. Women wear normal clothes as Ihram.

Both should wear flip-flops sandals so that the middle fingers of feet remain uncovered.

Filter Your Soul: “Perform Hajj” First wudu otherwise takes a bath with the Niyah of Ihram. There are two methods of purification before Perform Hajj:

  1. Purification of the body either by bath or Wudu.
  2. Repent on your sins for internal purification and say like this, “O Allah, I sincerely repent on my sins and seek your forgiveness.”

Inside The Plane

There is an advice to all fellow pilgrims if you plan to go Jeddah in the plane, get inside with the status of Ihram.

Do everything before except Niyah and Talbiyah of Perform Hajj which is done at the boundary line called ‘Miqat’. The pilot will announce when the plane is about to cross the boundary line to say Talbiyah.

Tawaf

When arriving in Ka’bah, perform tawaf as a gesture of greeting Al-Masjid Al-Haraam, to begin with, Perform Hajj. You must be in wudu. Men leave their right shoulder bare during entire Tawaf, called Idtiba’a. After Tawaf, men need to cover both shoulders.

Tawaf is done by circling around the Ka’bah seven times in the counter-clockwise direction, starting with Takbeer from the black stone to ending each circle at the black stone.

Once you reach the Yamani corner, touch it with your right hand saying أكبر بِسْمِ اللَّهِ, اللّهُ . At the end of seven times, perform ‘Istilam’ (touch or kiss the Ka’bah). The pilgrim then goes to Makam-e-Ibrahim to perform two rak’ats behind.

Sa’y:  The meaning of Sa’y is to run/ walk back and forth seven times between the hills of Safah & Marwa which are situated to the North and South of Kabah.

The Perform Hajj pilgrim starts Sa’y by facing the direction of Ka’bah , praise Allah and says  “Allah-u-Akbar” three times, then makes supplication to Allah.

Then the pilgrim comes down from the Safa and heads towards Marwa. Ascend Marwa by praising Allah as you did to Safa. Total of seven rounds required performing sa’y and the seventh one ends at Marwa.

Qasar/Halaq: After sa’y, male pilgrims will get their heads shaved and females will clip their hair identical to the length of a fingertip.

Departure to Arafat: On the 9th Dhul-Hijjah, the pilgrims stay in Arafat until sunset. The pilgrim should be within the boundaries of Arafat. The Prophet Sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam  said: “I stood here on this rocky hill and all ‘Arafat is a standing place” [Muslim].

One should keep reciting Talbeyah, glorifying Allah the Greatest and repeating supplication.”
