The Story Of The Miraculous Zamzam Water
The magnificent well of Zamzam in the holy haven of Makkah and the water which springs from it is cherished to the heart of all Muslims. This well is the most hallowed water spring for believers.
There is no other beverage that is of more esteem to them than that of Zamzam. Muslims offer sacredness to this water of remarkable taste. They trust that it is brimming with secret possessions that the human mind has no means to seize.
There is nothing usual about it. The supernatural incident of how it came to being amidst the desert, its consistency all the way through thousands of years, the priceless qualities it has, and the way it never becomes scarce. This water is exceptional.
A Supercilious History
From the time when Hazrat Hajrah RA meandered eagerly through the desert seeking for the sustenance of her child and herself; to the instant that Hazrat Ismail RA kicked his small feet on the sand the well of Zamzam was conceived out of immense Mercy of Allah Almighty.
The Renaissance Of Zamzam
The occupants of Makkah began to give up the way of the piety with the passage of time. Jurhum was driven out of Makkah when they became unjust and oppressive.
They deny the conquerors of Makkah Zamzam’s blessing and hide it from new rulers. This miraculous water was not revived and remain forgotten. Many generations passed and the time of the forefathers of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ came.
Abdul Muttalib RZ had a vision about digging a well for three successive nights. In these visions the name of the well was different and no area was specified. Finally, on the fourth night, Zamzam and its location were imparted to Abdul Muttalib RZ. He took care of the task assigned to him in the morning of the fourth night.
Revered Even Before Islam
The people of Makkah gave Zamzam the reverence it deserved after its renaissance. Whenever the Makkans were about to indulge in an imperative issue they used to drink from it.
This holy drink holds unlimited benefits as narrated by Ibn Khalifah As Sa’di that “the tribe of Quraysh used to drink Zamzam as the first prep of war to fend their enemies.
The Location Of The Well
Zamzam well is situated within Mosque al-Haraam, 18 meters from Hijr-e-Awad (Black Stone) east of Holy Kaabah. The well is 35 meters deep and has been lowered below the ground to remove all obstructions from the course of Tawaaf.
The Supreme Drink
Zamzam water has the miraculous ability to satisfy both thirst and hunger. Not only does it fill the stomach, its benefits are also commended. Beloved Prophet ﷺ stated:
“The Best Water on Earth is Zamzam; it’s kind of food and holds healing ability from sickness.” –Sahih al-Jami: 3302
